Trip to Legoland Malaysia

Today we went to Legoland in Malaysia.  We had to go through customs and cross the Tuas causeway. We travelled on a coach there. Legoland was amazing.  There wasn’t very many people there,  so we got to  go on all the rides very quickly. Some of the rides included roller coasters, boats and cars that drive, Miniland, and even  virtual reality rollercoasters. My favourite was the Dragon apprentice rollercoaster. Part way through the day, before I was going to get onto the rollercoaster  I thought would be the funnest ,  they closed  all the rollercoasters  because of a lightning/rain  storm . The rain lasted for about 20 minutes. After  we’ve had to hop on a coach. Miniland included famous buildings from Malaysia Singapore India and more. One of the key icons from the Miniland  was the small version of the Petronas towers which are still a good 2 m high. On the way back into Singapore we had to wait to get our passport stamped was about an hour. We were exhausted and I felt like I was going to faint, though  I didn’t luckily.

Exploring food

The first meal we actually had in Singapore was the breakfast at the hotel, but it’s not really interesting so let’s say the first meal that I had was at Suntec city. We had banana and egg prata and noodle soup. Other things I have tried are steamed dumplings,  which are delicious,  pork steamed bun, fresh lime juice, fish and fried spring rolls, Vietnamese chicken, roasted duck, Japanese Bento box, And most importantly but a lot of it rice! I’m doing really well and trying a lot of new things.

In the photo I had  Fried dumplings and udon noodle soup.

Chinatown

This morning we went to Chinatown. We saw temples, Chinese food stalls and souvenir shops and much much more. Chinatown is famous because it has lots of old 18 century buildings including mosques and Chinese temples. One of the Chinese temples used to be right  on the seafront.  After they did the land reclamation to make the earth move further out into the bay. When we were coming back to find some food I bought a mini Merlion which is one of Singapore’s  icons and six mini keyrings which I bought for my friends.

First day in Singapore

Today was our first day in Singapore. We had breakfast at the hotel and then we went across the road to the underground. We took the underground to the Singapore Flyer which is the big observation wheel. Its not called a ferris wheel. It took half an hour to go around and was awesome.  After, we walk to Suntec City which is a big shopping mall. We had some food, it was delicious. We looked at the fountain, which is the biggest in the world, then we went on an amphibious vehicle which is called the duck. The duck goes on land, water and land again. It took us around the marina and was awesome.  At home I had looked at the duck and had really wanted to go on it. I thought it would be awesome and it was. I have noticed how many people there are, how hot it is, and have loved it.

Collecting money

Today dad went and got the money for us when we are in Singapore. He ordered  it from the bank. When you buy different currency there is an exchange rate. One dollar and nine cents  New Zealand dollar equals one Singaporean dollar. We have to think about this when we buy things in Singapore. We got out lots of different notes  and coins. The man on the Singaporean note is Yusuf bin Ishak.
He was the first president of Singapore. We got notes out that are $2, $5, $10, $50 and $100.
