Public Transport

When we were in Singapore, to get most places we used the MRT or buses. The MRT stands for Mass Rapid Transport. You can also call it the Underground or Subway.
There are 5 lines; Downtown line, East West line, North south line, North East Line, and Circle line. There were stations everywhere. The MRT trains are driverless. I got to stand at the front and look out of the front window. Which I soon found out we were not allowed to do.
I would the map very easy to follow. I also found it easy to get in and out with my card and the trip prices were cheap. At times I had to correct Mum and Dad before we got on the wrong train!

In Singapore there are also buses. There are single storey buses and double decker buses. There are so many more buses than trains but you have to wait a little bit longer for them. One of the bus rides cost us 9 cents! The buses are cheaper than the trains.

The LRTs and monorails are at the end of the MRT, airports and there is a monorail around Sentosa. We didn’t go on them that much because we didn’t really go to the areas that they were. The ones that we did go on were the one at Bukit Panjang, monorail all t Sentosa and the  LRT at Changi Airport.
As well as all of this we used Taxis. These are not public transport but still run by the government.

Universal Studios

Today we went to Universal studios. We went on the hotel bus to Vivo City Mall then take the monorail back up to Resort World Sentosa.
My first impression- it was 100% amazing! The fronts, building were new but made to look old fashioned. They had an eye for detail.
There were about 8 different areas within the park which were all based within a loop around a lake.
I got braver and braver as the day went on and in the end I went on the second most scary ride in the park which was park of Battle Star Galatica. It was the tallest twin coaster in the world.

Other favourite rides of mine included the Puss in Boots adventure, the Enchanted Airways roller coaster, Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure and the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster.
One of the fun things at the park was  a sound stage called Lights Camera Action. It was a set for a tornado film. There was fire, lights, things falling, things smashing and things blowing away. But you could see how it worked if  you looked closely enough.

At Universal Studios I bought a hat.

Our hotels

During our time in Singapore we stayed at two hotels.
At the Liang Court we stayed for 7 nights. The Liang Court was probably my favourite out of the two hotels we stayed in because it wasn’t as busy, fancy and the buffet choices weren’t as big.
Also one of my favourite things about Liang Court was the pool they had. It didn’t  have a big fancy water park and slides but it was the funniest because it was really deep at one end, 3.35m and we could have competitions to touch the bottom.

After our 7 nights we changed to Rasa Resort on Sentosa. The reason why we swapped is because Sentosa Island has most of the theme parks they have in Singapore, including Universal Studios, Aquarium and a water park called Adventure Cove.
The resort has really fancy buffets, pool, kids rope course, kids club, and it’s own beach and water craft.
I am enjoying the food and the water slides in the pool.

Jurong Bird park

On Saturday Dad and I went to the bird park.
I really wanted to go because I really like nature. On the way there we had to take the MRT, which was really long way, then we had to hop on a bus. On the way back we just took a taxi and was home in 20 mins.

First thing at the bird park we went to a bird flying show where we got to see lots of birds swoop over our heads and do tricks on the amphitheater stage.  Particularly noticeable in the bird show was  a bird that could speak and even sing three songs, only one of which was in English.

On the way through the hornbill enclosure, we saw a bird that had cancer somewhere on his beak. Part of his beak had to be removed and replaced with a plastic version.
As well as seeing Jaya, we saw lots of interesting birds including the horned hornbill, the Victoria crowned pigeon, and the flamingos.
Something very cool at the bird park was the blue macaw, which actually inspired the two movies- Rio and Rio 2.
At the park when we were finishing, Dad took me on the tram which gave us a tour of the park. The only problem was it was stinking hot.
Here are some photos.

Light show

Sorry for the delay....

A few nights ago, me, Mum, Dad and Katie went to the light show at Marina Bay. The things it involved were a sculpture in the middle of the Bay, a fountain,  Marina Bay shopping mall, the science museum and Marina Bay Sands, which is a huge hotel.

It started at 8 pm and went for about 15 mins. When we were there we also looked at the Singapore Merlion. The big one is under restoration but the small baby one we could see.

When we were walking back to the MRT station we saw lots of fancy cars including  Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz, Bentley, Ferrari, and Lamborghini.

I took a lot of pictures of the light show, and here are a few.

Gardens by the Bay

Today went to Gardens by the bay, we meet our friends Ruby and Maya there. It was very hot and the pavement was just burning. We didn’t last very long and decided to go into the air-conditioned mall. On the way we saw some of the key icons,Some of which are the flower dome, the cloud garden dome and the supertrees and skywalk. Although we didn’t last long we still appreciated the thought and work that went into marina bay sands and gardens by the Bay what it is today.

Little India

Today we went to little India,  we did a walking tour there looked at some of the temples and shops. It was really hot and  in the building looks a lot rougher than in the city.. This is because all the buildings are quite old. At one point dad got a bit lost so we just tried to get to a big market area. On the way we tried to find a shop that sold mango Lassi and was air-conditioned. We didn’t find one but we got some mango Lassi at the market  and shared it. The market was really busy and had fish, meat, eggs, chicken and more. It also had Indian textiles like Saris.
On the way Dad took us to my grandads favourite shop called Mustafas. I love it because it sold lots and lots of random stuff. I was really interested in the model boat but something that I also found included old clocks DVDs sports gear toiletries  and even old-fashioned telephone.

After that I went and bought some stuff at the mall.
